5 Mistakes to avoid with Suits

You love wearing suits. You know that fit and fabric matter. Here, I will list 5 mistakes that you should always avoid when wearing suits.

Here goes!

  • Ties: The tie width and lapel width must always be proportional. No slim ties with wide lapels or wide ties with slim lapels. BE PROPORTIONAL.
  • Shoes: Never wear loafers (laceless shoes) with a suit if you are wearing a tie. It is okay to wear loafers with a suit when you are not wearing a tie. Additionally, you can never go wrong with Oxfords, Brogues or Monk-straps with your suit.
  • Shirts: If you are wearing a pinstripe suit, make sure you wear a solid or a striped shirt with it. No check shirts please.
  • Pocket Squares: If you decide to wear a tie with your suit, wear a plain/solid pocket square to accentuate the look of the tie. Never wear a flamboyant pocket square with a tie. If however, you are not wearing a tie with your suit, be creative with your pocket square :-)
  • Belt: The color of the belt must match the color of the shoes. It is absolutely okay to not wear a belt with your suit, but it is not okay to wear a belt that has a different color than the shoes.
